Shoulder-to-Shoulder Indeed:  Waynflete at the Heart of Global Citizenship Education

The Global Solutions Forum in Colorado shifted from the central collaboration event for SStS partners to an entrée for Waynflete’s Global Citizenship International Potluck and Forum.  The variegated landscape of peoples, non-profit partners, and cuisine welcomed us with Waynflete warmth while clearly reflecting  the community’s deep heart’s core.

Martin Luther King, Jr. reminds us in an early essay, “On Being A Good Neighbor,” that for all of us who embrace the role of promoting and guarding justice and compassion that “something must happen to touch the hearts and souls of people.”

That something is surely happening at Waynflete.  SStS believes that schools ought to be a free society’s engine for driving the social good by educating the next generation of leaders as global citizens.  What joy it is to see this ethic pervade the Waynflete community and now contribute to the shared mission of Students Shoulder-to-Shoulder.  We are deeply grateful to call Waynflete “one of us.”
