One of the most remarkable aspects of Students Shoulder-to-Shoulder is its dedication to making trips last for students. As part of their “phase three,” post-trip work, students had the opportunity to present their trip work to Upper Schoolers, NGO partners, and Global Liasons at the Vail Mountain School. Helen Gray-Bauer and one of her fellow participants presented to a roomful of students the unique experience she had in Nepal. They showed a powerpoint detailing their service work this summer. They shared with audience members how they overcame language barriers during 10-day homestays, embarked on a 5-day trek in the Himalayas, and visited various UNESCO World Heritage sites.
